Looking at the distribution of the different manufacturers in Fig. 4, we see that the former market leader Cray Reseach was outdone by SGI and IBM, now beeing in position three. This big decrease in the number of installed systems is due to the fact that the original YMP and the YMP/J90 (Jedi) systems are no longer able to enter the TOP500. Looking at the changes in the accumulated performances of the different vendors in Fig. 5, we see that the installed performance of the Japanese vendors is increasing strongly. Even stronger however is the increase of the installed performance for IBM systems.
