On surfer I have just changed the library "lanczs" to "lanczos" and made
the necessary changes in LIBS. Next I changed all file names from "xxx.f"
to just "xxx" in the lanczos directory. Finally I changed the index to
reflect this. I also change "lanczs" to "lanczos" in the makefile.

Eric,

Jack just pointed out the following.

send lsvalhed from lanczos <- Works

send lsvalhed.f from lanczos <- Does not work

I just tried this on netlib@research.att.com and got the same results.
Are we going to have to change all the indexes to reflect this?

Thanks,
Bill

Bill,

The file lanczs/index contains incorrect filenames. I would prefer that
these be corrected, but didn't get around to it yet because of the
difficult choices. The directory should probably be renamed, first of
all; there was some problem at one time about Scott's library versus
Cullum and Willoughby's. The file you mentioned, lsvalhed is really
a documentation file, not Fortran. Should it have a .f like the index
says, or not?

Please feel free to do this sort of cleanup; just send me mail (ideally
as a shell script to make the same changes here) so that we stay in sync.

Best wishes, Eric
