Course Project

In November, a course project using the CS Department's Thinking Machines CM-5 (32-processor) will be assigned. This project will involve the optimization of Fortran or C codes using all available software (compilers, restructurers, pseudo-assembly language, etc.) on the CM-5, cranberry. Students will work in groups of two or three and will be required to turn in a written report along with all optimized codes by the last day of class, Wednesday, December 8. No projects will be accepted after this date. CM-5 manuals (or excerpts of certain manuals) will be put on reserve in the CS Library (Ayres 105) and at Oak Ridge. Students should contact the instructor or the TA's for a valid login (if they do not already have one on CS Department machines) early in the semester.
