Subject: Change at the digest

You may have noticed some changes have taken place with the NA Net and
NA-Digest. First Cleve, who began as editor of the digest in 1988, has
decided to step down. Cleve has really done a terrific job of putting
together the weekly digest adding his own touch in subtle ways. Under
Cleve's editorship the Digest has grown from about a few hundred subscribers
to over 11,000.

Cleve, congratulations and thanks for all the time and effort you have put
in during the last 18 years. Your hard work and dedication is greatly
appreciated by the community.

Tammy Kolda from Sandia National Labs has taken on the roll as editor for
the digest. There are some additional changes on how topics are submitted.
Hopefully this will help everyone and minimize the amount of spam received
via the digest.

As you may know the NA-Digest and netlib are unfunded activities and
continue in large part because of contributions of time and effort from
people like Cleve and Tammy.

Best wishes,
Gene and Jack

Subject: Changes at NA Digest

I am very pleased to welcome Tamara Kolda as the new regular editor of
the NA Digest. Tammy is with the Computational Sciences and Mathematics
Research department at Sandia National Labs in Livermore, California. I
am sure that many of you already know Tammy through her research papers,
software projects, and participation in SIAM and the Association for
Women in Mathematics. She has been editor of "BANANA", the Bay Area
regional version of NA Digest since its creation five years ago.

I also hope you noticed the recent announcement by the NA Digest
software guru, Keith Moore, that we are now trying to reduce spam by
requiring acknowledgement of contributions. If you wish to contribute
to the Digest, send email to

na.digest@na-net.ornl.gov

Include your announcement in the body of the email, not in an
attachment. Keep it short. Refer readers to a Web page for details.
You will receive an automatic reply from the Digest input queue software
asking you to visit a Web page to confirm your contribution. We expect
that spammers will fail to provide this confirmation and so their
material will not find its way into the actual queue.

Subject: New Release of Trilinos

Release 6.0 of Trilinos is available for download at the Trilinos website.
This version has one new package, and major enhancements to most other
packages. Below is a brief set of release notes. More details can be found
at the Trilinos website.

Release 6.0 Notes: http://software.sandia.gov/trilinos/release_6.0_notes.html
Tutorial: http://software.sandia.gov/trilinos/TrilinosTutorial.pdf

Overview:

Trilinos is a collection of compatible software packages (18 in the
general release, an additional 9 in the limited release) that support
parallel linear algebra computations, solution of linear, non-linear
and eigen systems of equations and related capabilities.

In addition to many new features across most packages, Trilinos
Release 6.0 contains one new package, Thyra. This package represents
our first general release of an abstract interface to support generic
programming. A second major feature is the much improved design and
implementation of PyTrilinos, a collection of Python wrappers for
serial and parallel execution of Trilinos via Python.
